Home Planet

Home Planet is a comprehensive astronomy / space / satellite-tracking program. You can track satellites, set the date to the future, track the positions of the planets, position and phase of the sun and moon, etc. Full details of the features of this program can be found online at the Home Planet home page.

Running the Program: To Run the program from the CD simply click here.

Installation: To install Home Planet on your own computers, click here and choose open. This will open up your unzipping program. Take all the files and extract them to a directory that you create. In this directory will be the file

Run this program (by double clicking it) to start Home Planet.

Planet Visibility V2.0

Planet’s Visibility computes in both graphic and tabular form the visibility of the sun, moon, and planets, including dates of visibility phenomena, as first and last visibility, for specified years and geographical locations with much supplementary information.

Stellarium

Stellarium is a free software available for Windows, which renders 3D photo-realistic skies in real time. With stellarium, you really see what you can see with your eyes, binoculars or a small telescope. It features over 120000 stars from the Hipparcos Catalogue with name and infos for the brightest ones; Planets in real time, with a powerfull zoom mode to see them like in a telescope; Drawing of the 88 constellations with their names; Photorealistic Milky Way; Ground, fog, and landscape; Grids in Equatorial and Azimuthal coordinates; Time control (real time and accelered time modes); Clikable stars, planets and nebulas with informations; Ecliptic and celestrial equator lines.

Click Here to Install and select Open.

SFA Chart Viewer

This program is designed to assist students in observational astronomy to learn the use of star charts. It is also an excellent reference for learning the sky; positions of the planets, Sun and Moon; Messier objects; and other features. Has online features linked to the Digitized Sky Survey and the SFA Astronomy web site. This version includes the North and South Celestial Spheres.

Sun Position

Sun Data including Right Ascension/Declination; Altitude/Azimuth; Rise/Set; and Distance. Also has Local and Universal Time Clocks and can provide Time Zone Information. This version corrects the "date literal" representation of the date of changes from DST to ST to an actual calendar date. Includes a compass feature, which notes the angular difference between the Sun and North.

Click Here to Install and select Open.

Moon Rise and Set Calculator

This program will calculate the Rise and Set times for a given day; Equatorial Topocentric and Geocentric Coordinates of the Moon; Horizon Coordinates of the Moon; Local Siderial Time; Sun Rise and Set Times as well as Horizon positions of the Sun during Rise and Set Events.

Click Here to Install and select Open.

Stella Rise and Set Calculator

Calculates the Rise and Set events of non-planetary objects. Features included from the previous version include: Built in Messier Catalog; common alignment star catalog; and object description edit. Corrected "Log Entry" option to work on Windows NT/2000 operating systems. New features include: Horizon Coordinates for stellar objects; "Favorites" menu, which allows user to save coordinates and descriptions of up to 35 objects. User has full control over deleting individual favorites.
